Throughout the years, the location has played host to a number of prominent foreign guests. But up until this point, a wedding had never been allowed on the property. After initially dismissing the news as conjecture, media outlets subsequently verified that Poonam Gupta’s wedding had received special sanction from President Droupadi Murmu.

Rashtrapati Bhavan to schedule first wedding

The first wedding in Rashtrapati Bhavan’s history is scheduled to take place there. On February 12, 2025, CRPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta, who is now at the President’s residence as a Personal Security Officer (PSO), will wed fellow CRPF officer Avnish Kumar.

Strict security measures will ensure that only close family members attend the ceremony, which will be held at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex.

The President of India’s official house, Rashtrapati Bhavan, is one of the most important architectural icons in the nation. The main building, which makes up more than 200,000 square feet and has 340 rooms spread across four storeys, is part of the expansive 300-acre estate, which was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is the second-largest head of state house in the world, behind Quirinal Palace in Italy.

After leading the all-female group at the 74th Republic Day Parade, Poonam Gupta became well-known across the country. She served in an area of Bihar ravaged by the Naxals prior to her current appointment at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

About Her Fiancée

A successful scholar, Gupta graduated from Jiwaji University in Gwalior with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in English literature, and a B.Ed. In 2018, she achieved the 81st rank in the UPSC CAPF test and enlisted in the CRPF as an Assistant Commandant.

In addition to being an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, her fiancé, Avnish Kumar, is based in Jammu and Kashmir. Only their close relatives will be present at their private wedding at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Gupta’s desire to have her wedding at Rashtrapati Bhavan was personally granted by President Droupadi Murmu, who reportedly did so in appreciation of her exceptional service and rigorous code of behavior. Many people are curious as to how this decision was made for the first time in the presidential estate’s history, and it has generated a lot of curiosity.

Gupta has an active social media presence, sharing encouraging words for students as well as insights into her job on Instagram. Whether she would be allowed to release Rashtrapati Bhavan wedding images is still up in the air.
