The lowest temperature in Delhi on Wednesday was 9.3 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees warmer than average for this time of year. “Due to a strong western disturbance and southerly winds that have reached Delhi, the minimum temperature in Delhi this morning was approximately 12 degrees Celsius,” stated Dr. Soma Sen Roy, a scientist with the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Temperature increases in Delhi
Although there is no probability of further temperature increases in Delhi, the north of India will see a 1-2 degree Celsius increase in temperature. Due to a western disturbance, the temperature may gradually drop after two days, starting on January 24th morning, according to Dr. Roy.
The IMD weather office reports that rain is possible today and on January 23 in Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and North Rajasthan. Dense fog will persist throughout Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha, according to the weather office. At 9 am, Delhi’s Central Pollution Control Board reported an Air Quality Index of 262, maintaining the city’s air quality in the “poor” category.
