Earlier in the day, PM Narendra Modi and the French President co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris, and now they are in Marseille.

French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Marseille together after Modi gave the opening remarks at the AI Action Summit in Paris.

Among those attending the high-profile AI event were UN leader Antonio Guterres, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and EU Commission President Urusula Von Der Leyen. During his speech, Prime Minister Modi urged investments in retraining and skilling individuals for a future powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

In the Global South in particular, he claimed, governance is about making sure that everyone has access.

Following Prime Minister Modi’s expression of interest, France confirmed that India would host the next AI summit.

India also promised to fully back France’s AI ambitions.The prime minister also promoted collaborations between companies in France and India during his remarks at the CEOS Forum between the two nations in Paris.

Modi urged companies to enter the Indian market as the nation strives to achieve the objective of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, highlighting advancements in manufacturing, infrastructure, and production across a number of sectors.

Highlights In honor of visiting heads of state and government, President Macron threw Modi a dinner at the Élysée Palace. Several other notable invitees to the meeting, including tech CEOs, also attended the meal.

In the aftermath of China’s DeepSeek’s tech disruption, the AI Action Summit takes on new relevance. According to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, India intends to create a local AI model.

In his speech to the India-France CEOs Forum, Modi urged companies to enter the Indian market and outlined the nation’s advancements on a number of fronts.

Modi also paid respect to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers during World War I at the Mazargues War Cemetery, which is run by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Marseille.

The high-science project known as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is located in Cadarache, which Modi and Macron will both visit.

Upon his arrival in Marseille, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to the citizens for their assistance in Veer Savarkar’s escape from British detention.
