Chris Martin to perform at Grammys
Chris Martin of @coldplay will join our list of performers at this year’s #GRAMMYs (gramophone emoji), posted the official X feed of the Recording Academy, the Grammy Awards’ organiser, on Wednesday. This year’s program also features performances by Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Academy Award-nominated Cynthia Erivo from Wicked.
According to the Recording Academy, the Grammys will take on a significant new role this year in reaction to the horrific wildfires that have devastated Los Angeles. The program will gather funds to support relief operations for the Los Angeles disaster and to commemorate the courageous first responders who risked their lives to put out the fire.
The Recording Academy first contemplated postponing the event or broadcasting it as a fundraiser, but ultimately decided to proceed with the performance as a celebration and a way to participate in the community. In addition to Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan, several musicians have received multiple nominations. Beyonce has the most nominations (10). It will still go forward.
