In its third week of release, Kangana Ranaut’s political drama Emergency has suffered a slump in box office receipts. Although the picture saw some success on Saturday, February 1, its earnings have begun to fall since then.
A review of the film Emergency
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Emergency is expected to have made Rs 17.64 crore in India after 16 days in theaters.
Despite a respectable start, Kangana’s Emergency witnessed a fall in attendance during its third week at the box office, earning just Rs 9 lakhs on February 1 with a low occupancy rate of 11.91 percent in Hindi screenings, according to Sacnilk.
Saturday (Day 16) saw a steep dip in Emergency’s box office receipts, which was far less than its first-week revenues, which were between Rs 4.25 crore and Rs 2.5 crore. The third week was a difficult one for the film to keep up. Saturday, Day 16, showed a significant reduction in Emergency’s revenues when compared to Day 14 and Day 15, when the movie made about Rs 20 lakhs on each day.
Box office receipts for the movie are still struggling, and they show a discernible drop as the third week goes on.
With a respectable opening of Rs 2 crore, Emergency was finally released on January 17, 2025, following several delays. Its abroad earnings were Rs 1.75 crore, while its India total was Rs 20.75 crore as of Friday.
The total amount collected was Rs 22.5 crore worldwide. Indira Gandhi, one of India’s most well-known and divisive politicians, is the subject of Kangana Ranaut’s 1975 film Emergency. Often considered one of the worst periods in the nation’s history, the 21-month Emergency period is examined in the film.
