On February 5 (Wednesday), when votes will be cast for the Delhi assembly and two by-elections in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission issued a notice prohibiting the conduct, publication, or promotion of exit polls from 7:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

The January 22 notice also clarified that, in accordance with the Representation of the People Act, it would be illegal to display any election-related content, including the findings of opinion polls or other poll surveys, in any electronic media for 48 hours following the poll’s scheduled conclusion time.
In addition to the Delhi assembly elections, elections are being held in the Tamil Nadu district of Erode (East) and the Uttar Pradesh assembly constituency of Milkipur. In accordance with the provisions of Subsection (2) of the aforementioned Section, the Election Commission, in the exercise of its authority under Subsection (1) of Section 126A of the R.P. Act, 1951, hereby declares that the period from 7 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, is prohibited for conducting, publishing, or disseminating exit poll results in connection with the aforementioned general and bye elections through print or electronic media
According to Section 126(1)(b) of the R.P. Act, 1951, it is forbidden to display any election-related content, including the findings of opinion polls or other poll surveys, in any electronic media for 48 hours beginning with the hours designated for the poll’s conclusion in relation to the aforementioned general and by election.
Political parties
Political parties have stepped up their campaigning in the meantime, as the Delhi election is less than a week away.
Voter counting is set on February 8, and the Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5.
A triangular struggle between the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party, and the Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to take place in the nation’s capital.
